Seven species, and the road to 50+
Our progress towards recovering seven species, the growing labs behind it, and what it will take to reach 50+ by 2030.

The loss of one species can affect other organisms and the ecological relationships that sustain an ecosystem. Species recovery is therefore not just about protecting individual plants or animals. It is about supporting the systems that keep them alive.
India is home to extraordinary biodiversity, but species face growing pressure from habitat loss, invasive species, pollution and climate change. Punarjeevan is our initiative to support their recovery through cultivation, propagation and practical ecological action.
What seven species means
Punarjeevan has made progress towards the recovery of 7 species. We see this as an important starting point, not a finish line. It has also given us practical experience in cultivation, propagation and plant care.
- A microgreens production lab, built around growing trays, seed preparation and cultivation systems.
- A species growing lab for propagation, plant care, identification and growing protocols.
- Monitoring that records results, identifies challenges and learns what each species needs.

The road to 50+
Our target is to reach 50+ species by 2030. Species recovery requires more than an initial intervention. It needs suitable infrastructure, materials, consistent care, monitoring, experimentation and partnerships.
We want to turn concern for biodiversity into measurable action: one species, one growing initiative, and one collaboration at a time.
You do not need to be a scientist to contribute. Punarjeevan welcomes individuals and organisations that can offer time, expertise, infrastructure, funding, research support or meaningful collaboration.
